Stealing From the Templemans
I know that Chris and Kellie don't hold a copyright on weekend updates, so I guess it really isn't stealing, but I had a great weekend. Friday I met Brian for an early showing of Inception at the Mall of Georgia. This was a way to hopefully calm our nerves because that evening we started working on shooting a wedding. It was a surprisingly awesome movie. I was really dissapointed with DeCaprio in Shutter Island and went into this movie with that mindset. I know Chris Nolan did an amazing job with the batman series, but could he bring the magic that has been so hit or miss for DeCaprio? Absolutely. I don't think I have ever seen a movie that really had me engaged as much as this one did. After the movie we met Brian's wife Katrina for some lunch and walking for a couple minutes around the mall because Brian needed a UGA shirt for the rehearsal that night.
After getting a shirt Brian and I made a quick run down to Fry's for some batteries and an extra memory card. It was my first trip to Fry's and unlike the movie, it kinda disappointed me. It was massive and had tons of electronic stuff, but it really seemed like it was trying to be way too much. It was like a Best Buy, Cosco, Think Geek, and Amazon all mashed together keeping most of the worst parts and squeezing out the good stuff. I think maybe if I still built computers or needed some specialty things it would be better or if I was looking for some specialty items I needed right now it might be awesome. It just seemed to be a dirty and unorganized warehouse of lower end items.
An amazing weekend
Wow, talk about a much needed rest. I had a very long weekend this past weekend thanks to a couple furlow days. Friday was a blast. I finally got to make cornbread with my cast iron skillet and it turned out pretty well. I have a good starting point for my next go at it at least. I made the cornbread to go with a nice big pot of chili. Kim came over and she at least pretended to like the cornbread and chili, as did James and Masako. It seemed to be edible and I may try it again soon before it gets too warm outside. After dinner Kim joined me to watch Serenity. I have seen this movie a dozen times and I am sure I could watch it a dozen more. I know this will probably anger Chris, as he really wants to get up a day to watch Firefly.
Saturday Kim and I drove to Augusta. My mom got a new TV and she wasn't sure how to hook everything back up. So we got there before lunch time and I started going through the mess of cables and equipment. After about four hours we had the TV hooked up to the surround sound, cable box, and Wii, plus got the remote setup to control all of it. It really was awesome. I know my mom is unsure if she likes it because the room is now open, but I have to say it looks awesome. Now there is nothing to block the view of the river. About 6:30 we met a good chunk of my family at a mexican restaurant before heading back home. Everyone seems to like Kim and she fit right in with everyone. It was a really great trip to Augusta and the company made it even better.
