Awards

Today was the annual faculty/staff awards at Spivey Hall.  It was the same old affair but with a new cast.  Dr. Hynes is a great public speaker and really uses humor to engage the audience.  This was something we really needed.  Sundiata, James F, and Ben all got 5 year awards, but James was the only one in attendance.  Congrats to all of you.  Chris White and I both got our 10 year awards.  Debye was officially recognized as a retiree and I have to say it was like a horrible reality setting in.  I am so excited for her, but no one knows the HUB without her.  It is a major unknown.  I look forward to the change though because I really do enjoy the chaos and challenges that always accompany change.

Some Analytics

I love google Analytics. It has some of the most useful information. I check it weekly for my site and since I started back using it in February, I have noticed something really cool in regards to my traffic sources...

The top 1/3rd of my traffic sources in the last 30 days.

More than a third of all the traffic on my site comes from Chris and Kellie's website.  That is more than the direct traffic.  That kinda blew me away.

The iPad

The Apple iPad

Yesterday Kim and I went to the Apple store at Lenox Mall, and spent about an hour playing with the iPad.  I fought really hard with myself not to get one, and thus far, I have been very successful.  The problem is that the more I read about it and play with one the more I want it.  I am not really going to talk about it, but I wanted to open it up to you guys to talk about it.  What are y'alls opinions of the iPad?  Do you plan to get one?  Waiting for a second generation?

Quick Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a busy one for the most part.  Friday I went and picked up Kim in the morning.  We had a few errands to run, such as finding a birthday gift for my niece Kate.  We wanted to look around the Jonesboro road area, but she had a headache so we headed back to the house for her to get some advil and rest a bit.  About 3pm we headed to the Stonecrest area to look for stuff.  We went that direction because my sister and her family were coming in to watch my cousin Bradley play baseball for GSU and that is where we decided to meet.  We went all over the mall and the Toys-r-us, but nothing was looking good for Kate.  That all changed when we went into Borders.  There was so much stuff there.  We spent almost an hour and a half picking stuff up and then swapping it.  In the end we ended up getting Kate two books.  A book for girls for to doodle and a pocket sized one for the car.  Hopefully she will enjoy them.

iPhone OS 4.0

Well, today was the day Apple broke its silence on the upcoming OS for the iPhone and iPad. iPhone OS 4 has been eagerly anticipated since the iPad was unveiled, and I have to say that Apple didn't disappoint with the features. I really look forward to getting it this summer, and here are a few of the reasons why.

  • Multitasking
  • Enhanced Mail
  • Game Center
