Guild Wars

Guild Wars LogoWell, after forever of having friends prod me into playing it, I took the plunge toward the end of last week.  Kim wanted to play something together so we started playing Guild Wars.  So far I have to say I am impressed that it is as good as it is at being like an MMO, without a monthly fee.  So far I have about 7 hours in the game and it has been pretty fun.  I keep comparing it to WoW and while it falls short in a lot of areas, it is a completely different game.  I really like that the world is an instance.  Just you and your party with no one else to steal your mobs or whatever.  I am sure I will dig more into the game and post it on here, but for now I have to say it is a much better game than I expected.

  1. That’s awesome that Kim is willing to play games with you. I like the way she’s open minded and not afraid of trying new things with you. I need to do more stuff with my husband too… Yea.

  2. Yes, WoW has some things that GW really needs (I’m looking at you Auction House), I think GW is a better game overall. It is a much more balanced game than WoW. PvP doesn’t mean you have to be some sort of keyboard ninja, instead, you have to know how to use your skills in combination with your party. And so on.

If you ever need any help, let me know. I have a level 20 warrior that can bring the pain.

  3. Welcome aboard
I found out about your blog entry thanks to a Guild Wars alert I have set up in Google (following news about Guild Wars 2).
I and my wife are launch players, and have been in Guild Wars since the beginning. My wife is very picky about her MMO’s and Guild Wars is one of the few (Age of Conan is another game) she always goes back to and plays again.
We just started back up with our son (who is 11 years old, and is an awesome player) and we are having a blast.

I think Guild Wars does MANY things better than WoW, especially like the henchmen, break down of equipment for materials for crafting, not having to craft by standing around and clicking a button, and of course, faster paced combat.

    Hope you enjoy it.

  4. I love playing Guild Wars and especialy with John. Then again it is fun doing anything with John. The Game is really cool. I am actually suprised at how long it keeps my attention. I only have a few hours into the game but saying hours is alot for me. Well the fact of the mater is the only thing that can keep my attention any lenth of time is John. ( I will finnish later, John’s here, YES!!!!!)
