Mobile site theme

I just activated a new theme for anyone who wants to view my site on an iPhone or Android phone. Most modern smartphones should render it least. As a bonus I am making this post from my phone with the iPhone wordpress app. It is crazy how far computers have come.

A new MacHeist is coming soon!

For all of you who use Macs it looks like we are a little more than 4 days away from an all new MacHeist.  It looks like it is gonna be a nano bundle again.  If you check out the site now you can get squeeze for free.  It is a utility that compresses whatever folders you want using a new feature in snow leopard.  Not really sure how useful it is to me, but figured I would share the info so anyone interested could take it for a spin.

I highly recommend ya check out MacHeist on Monday to see if they have any great apps in the new bundle.

A great start to a new weekend

Wow, this week was a busy one at work.  Spent a lot of time trying to make sure we could deploy software to campus machines smoothly. I am looking forward to what is coming up soon with distributions to student machines, and even on demand, off campus installs for students.  This feeling of a bright new future for student services at CSU has really gotten me pumped for the weekend.

To top off all of that, today is payday.  Talk about a great timing.  For two hours this morning I could have ruled the world.  But like most everyone else, the money is now gone to pay bills.  Not that I am complaining about bills, I understand they are what give me warmth, shelter, and Rubi.  Speaking of Rubi, she needs a bath. Hopefully I can take care of that this morning.

LANDesk and CSU

A new era has begun at work where we are changing from focusing on having customers come to us to us actually being able to help customers where ever they are. Over the past few months I have been working hard to get LANDesk setup and configured. It has been a blast learning more than I ever wanted to know about things such as OS deploment, software installation packages, the windows registry and so much more. Today we are officially up and running.

On the 8th of February we started deploying agents out to all CSU owned computers.  As of this morning we have roughly 670 machines managed by LDMS.  This is a far cry from the nearly 7000 machines we plan to be managing by late August, but student machines will not be in the mix until closer to summer.  Since mid-December we have been using parts and pieces of LANDesk to support the campus, but as of this morning we are now at a point where we are utilizing almost all of what LDMS has for us.

Welcome to my new home.

I have bitten the bullet and once again jumped back into the online world.  Since my last attempt at this a ton has changed in my life, but a lot is still the same.  For any readers of my old blogs, I'll try to give a quick little update.
